NHL Hall of Famer Gordie Howe has died at age 88, the Detroit Red Wings said on Twitter Friday.
The Red Wings did not provide details on the cause of death but Howe, considered one of the greatest to play the game, had suffered a debilitating stroke in late 2014.
A 23-time NHL All Star, Howe led Detroit to four Stanley Cup titles before retiring in 1980 as the all-time leader in career goals and points.
