Man stabbed multiple times in Mount Vernon

A man was stabbed multiple times in the city of Mount Vernon overnight.
Police could be seen closing off a portion of East 4th Street around 11 p.m. Detectives searched the area for clues and they found a trail of blood from the corner that led to a building at 8 East 4th Street.
Sources tell News 12 they found a pool of blood in the hallway on one of the floors.
Police say a man walked into Montefiore Mount Vernon Hospital with multiple stab wounds around 11:15 p.m. He told officials there that he was driven to the hospital by a friend. The condition of the victim is unknown at this time but he has been transferred to Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx.
Police say at this point they're not sure if the attack was part of an attempted robbery or if there was some sort of altercation. There are surveliance cameras at the building and investigators say they're hoping that will help give them evidence and make an arrest. They are hoping to be able to speak with the victim later this afternoon to try and get more answers.
