Rain forced many communities across the Hudson Valley to change their plans for Memorial Day events.
White Plains was one of many Hudson Valley communities that remembered fallen veterans with indoor ceremonies. During a memorial in the Common Council Chamber at City Hall, officials read the names of men and women who paid the ultimate price for the nation. Officials said the city will always recognize and be indebted to the service members.
Events that were canceled included parades in Yonkers, Ossining, Eastchester/Tuckahoe, Yorktown and Stony Point. Like White Plains, most of the towns held indoor ceremonies.
Chappaqua, Mount Vernon, Elmsford, New Rochelle and North Castle were some communities that went on with their regularly scheduled Memorial Day plans.
