Arson eyed in Mount Vernon fire
Investigators say arson may have been the cause of a Mount Vernon house fire on Saturday that displaced several people.
The fire ignited around 11:30 p.m. on South Terrace Avenue.
It engulfed three apartment buildings and left several families homeless.
Fire officials found a gas tank at the bottom of the charred apartment building where the fire started, which led them to suspect arson.
Two firefighters suffered minor injuries.
The Red Cross is taking care of all those families who were displaced. It says about half of the tenants who were initially displaced were able to return to their apartments.
