Fires destroy 2 Woodbury homes

Two recent, separate fires destroyed two homes in Woodbury.

One of the fires destroyed a home at 36 Pearce Drive. Fire officials say a neighbor called for help around 4:30 a.m. Monday. Crews arrived to find the home engulfed in flames.

Officials say they have not been able to get in touch with the homeowner. Firefighters were unable to go inside the home due to the intense conditions, so it's unclear whether anyone was inside.

Officials say they have spoken with the homeowner's daughter, who is away at college, but her father's whereabouts are unknown. Neighbors say the man often travels and hasn't been seen in weeks.

Another fire happened over the weekend in Woodbury on Hazzard Lane. Officials say it was started by a candle. No injuries were reported.
