Officials: Rockland man jumped off GWB

Officials say that a missing Rockland County man committed suicide by jumping off the George Washington Bridge.

New Square Mayor Israel Spitzer says that the NYPD has reviewed footage from GWB cameras and has confirmed that David Ahronowitz, 46, from New Square, jumped from the span.

Spitzer say Ahronowitz is presumed dead and that the NYPD has started searching in the water and water's edge in hope of finding the body.

Ahronowitz was last seen in his hometown on Friday morning along Cleveland Avenue. Police say he then took a taxi across the George Washington Bridge.

Sources tell News 12 that Ahronowitz suffered from depression.
