Police: 90-year-old fatally struck by car

Officials have identified the man hit and killed by a car in Pleasantville over the weekend.
Police say 90-year-old Hercules Faranda was removing snow from his car on Washington Avenue when the accident happened around 11 a.m. Sunday.
Neighbors say the stretch of Washington Avenue where the music teacher was struck can be very dangerous because of a lack of sidewalk. They say people often walk or jog in the street as cars speed by.
Police say there is no indication that the driver who struck Faranda was speeding, and they acknowledge the snowy, slippery conditions may have been a factor in the accident.
No charges are being filed at this time.
