Man saves grandchildren from Warwick fire

A man managed to save his grandchildren from a fast-moving fire that destroyed his home on Buttermilk Falls Road in Warwick.

The children, aged 3 and 5 years old, and the man were inside when the fire started around 1:30 p.m. Thursday.

All of them were able to get out safely.

Heather Maltese says the fire started upstairs in the home. When her 73-year-old father discovered the flames, he brought the children outside and went back in with a fire extinguisher.

There is no word on what sparked the fire, but those fighting it said they had trouble accessing water.
