Woman with cancer among 1st to buy medical pot

A woman battling cancer was among the first people to buy medical marijuana from the newly opened dispensary in White Plains.



Brittany Barger has stage 4 ovarian cancer. The chemotherapy and other drugs designed to make her well have only made her more sick, prompting her to turn to marijuana.



Within hours of taking the drug, she insists that she felt better. The 27-year-old says that while she knows it won't save her life, she hopes that it will make what time she has left more livable.



Vireo Health officials say they experienced a steady stream of new patients since opening its doors last week.
