State trooper hurt in crash

A state trooper has been hospitalized after a crash in Yonkers.

Police say the trooper had his emergency lights on, and was headed northbound when he made a U-turn to go southbound on the I-87 near Costco and Stew Leonard's around 9:30 a.m.

They say a Honda was coming out of an E-ZPass lane on the southbound side of the Thruway when it struck the trooper's vehicle. The driver of the Honda, a 31-year-old male from New City, is facing a traffic violation.

The trooper and the New City man were sent to the hospital with minor injuries.
