The Hastings community is mourning the loss of a couple killed in a car accident Tuesday in Vermont.
Richard and Anita Malarczyk and their visiting friend were killed when their SUV crashed head-on into a tractor-trailer near the Killington Ski Resort in Vermont.
Officials say the tractor veered into the SUV's lane during a snowstorm on a step mountain road, instantly killing the couple and injuring their three children.
The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured. Vermont State Police say they are still determining why he lost control of his vehicle and if the weather was a factor.
