NYPD sergeant faces assault charges in shooting of woman in Yonkers

An NYPD sergeant has been arrested on charges of shooting of a woman in Yonkers Wednesday evening.

Jose Guerrero, 49, faces charges of assault in the shooting of a 39-year-old woman.

Police said the incident followed a domestic dispute between Guerrero and the victim in the suspect's apartment on Warburton Avenue. The two have a child together.

The victim, who was shot in the neck, was treated and released from St. John's Hospital

Guerrero is facing charges of second-degree assault and first-degree reckless endangerment. It's unclear whether he has been released or will spend Christmas in jail.
