Brawl at Yonkers FD holiday party spurs police probe

Police are investigating an altercation between Yonkers Fire Commissioner John Darcy and Lt. Michael O'Connor at the department's annual Christmas party.

The brawl took place at The Fairways at Dunwoodie in Yonkers Friday night.

Witnesses describe the altercation as very ugly and unfortunate. News 12 is told that Lt. O'Connor was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital as a result of the fight. He was treated and released.

The cause of the incident has not been confirmed, but the intelligence unit of the Yonkers Police Department is now investigating if anything criminal took place.

Sources say Darcy, who has spent more than 20 years on the job and was sworn in as commissioner in March, works in the same building as O'Connor.

News 12 was told Commissioner Darcy was not in the office on Monday.
