Motorcyclist killed in Route 9A crash

A crash on Route 9A in Hawthorne left one person dead Saturday evening.



Police say a man riding a motorcycle was travelling northbound on Route 9A at around 5 p.m. when he collided with a car travelling in the opposite direction.



The victim, who has not yet been named, was taken to Westchester Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.



A husband and wife were in the vehicle the victim struck.



The wife was taken to the hospital for an evaluation while the husband stayed on the scene to speak to responding officers.



The incident caused traffic to back up while police investigated the crash scene.



Police say an investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
