College of New Rochelle’s arts and sciences school to go co-ed
The College of New Rochelle will admit male students into the School of Arts and Sciences beginning next fall.
The unanimous decision for the School of Arts and Sciences to go co-ed was made by the college's Board of Trustees.
"So my hope and my expectation is that we'll open the door to even more women, to that 95 percent who won't consider applying to the College of New Rochelle, and now to men," says College of New Rochelle President Judith Huntington.
Male students are already enrolled in the School of Nursing, the School of New Resources and the graduate school.
While many think the change is a good idea, others feel it is a bittersweet departure from the 111-year-old college's original mission of leveling the educational playing field for women.
