Ceremony honors those killed at Pearl Harbor and CA

A Marine led a ceremony in Rockland County today that honored those killed at Pearl Harbor, while also remembering those who died in San Bernardino.

A flag replacement ceremony was held today at the Jawonio Tech campus in Spring Valley. The decision to replace an old, tattered Stars and Stripes and to raise a new flag over the campus was made several days ago. Event organizers recognized that it offered an opportunity to mark one of the darkest days in the nation's history, as well as remember those killed in last week's terror attack in California.

Retired Marine, Bill Dowling, a counselor for the agency which serves people with various disabilities, says that people need to work together during these trying times. "We're part of the community and we're part of the country, and we're all in a bit of mourning," says Dowling.

The old flag was turned over to Rockland County's Veterans' Commissioner Jerry Donnellan.
