Mount Vernon residents hold candlelight vigil for peace
A candlelight vigil was held Monday night at Mount Vernon City Hall as people prayed for an end to terrorism.
With the recent terror attacks in Paris and other instances of violence nationwide and overseas, Mount Vernon residents say they are fighting back with love.
The ceremony featured dancers and encouraged world unity.
Leaders of the anti-violence groups Peace December and Peacelights partnered with Mount Vernon residents to help spread the message.
In an effort to encourage more peaceful events, Mayor Ernie Davis declared Nov. 30 "Peace December Day" in Mount Vernon.
