Yonkers police chase ends in innocent death

A high-speed police chase ended Monday with the death of an innocent driver.

According to police, two teenagers were spotted breaking into parking meters along Warburton Avenue near Odell Avenue Monday afternoon.

Police say the suspects jumped into a stolen white van and sped off. The van attempted to flee the officers and struck a vehicle traveling southbound on Warburton Avenue, according to Commissioner Charles Gardner.

Police later identified that woman as 46-year-old Sharlene Stinson.

The two suspects, ages 14 and 16, are in critical condition at Westchester Medical Center. Charges against them are pending.

Police ask any witnesses to call them at 914-377-7305.
