Neighbor helps couple escape New Windsor fire

A New Windsor couple is thanking their fast-thinking neighbor for helping them to escape a house fire.
Al Cosenza and his wife, Rose, were in their Leslie Avenue home on Saturday night when the fire started. Rose escaped, but Al was stuck inside.
Their neighbor, Kevin Twomey, is a retired firefighter. He used a stepladder to climb in through a window and rescue Al Cosenza.
The Cosenzas were taken to hospital to get checked out.
Twomey doesn't consider himself a hero, but his wife does.
"I am so proud of him, I really am," Barbara Twomey says. "I was nervous watching him, but he just did it; he didn't even think twice."
Authorities say the fire started in the kitchen, and that a full investigation is underway.
