Mt. Vernon church looks to rebuild after fire
Members of a Mount Vernon church are hoping they can get some help after their building was destroyed by a fire.
Last month, a fire ripped through the Faith Temple Worship Center on south Fulton Avenue, destroying an adjacent deli, liquor store and hair salon, as well as sending 13 firefighters to the hospital.
As fire crews got the flames under control, the church appeared to be only partially damaged until the blaze ignited for a second time.
Pastor Allan Allen believes that it will take a substantial amount of money to rebuild the church, estimating from $300,000 to $500,000.
Allen says that insurance only covered a small amount of the damages.
"We are out of resources and we are appealing for help," he says.
Investigators are still trying to determine the case of the fire.
