Residents protest politicians' opposition of Iran deal
About a dozen protesters were on the corner of Mamaroneck and Main streets Thursday to voice their opposition about some local politicians who are opposing the controversial Iran nuclear deal.
The deal has been negotiated by the Obama administration.
Andrew Courtney, with the group WesPac, said he wants to send a message to Reps. Lowey and Engel, as well as Sen. Chuck Schumer that they are opposing their opposition of the deal.
"We support the idea of a nuclear peace deal with Iran," he said. "This is a rare opportunity for our citizenry, for our representative to support a real peace in the Middle East, not just a nuclear proliferation plan with Iran. They are going to be voting on this in Congress in September, and we would like them to change their minds."
