Video captures tense exchange at E. Ramapo protest
A profanity-filled exchange following a rally over the state of the troubled East Ramapo school district was caught on camera.
A video captured Ramapo Town Board member Brendel Charles cursing at protesters on Friday as they called for her husband, Bernard Charles, to resign from the East Ramapo school board.
Parents and residents had been rallying against the Orthodox Jewish-dominated board they claim has been mismanaging the district. Bernard Charles says they then made their way outside his office, with one man shouting insults at his wife.
"He decided to continue to berate, curse and threaten me," says Brendel Charles.
Bernard Charles says that he has asked police to file harassment charges and an order of protection against one of the protesters.
There is still no word from police on whether any charges have been filed.
