Young adults take self-defense class in Greenburgh

The Obama administration reported that assaults at colleges are on the rise, and one local community is taking steps to prepare young people to defend themselves.

Young adults in Greenburgh took a two-hour self-defense course Saturday at Elmsford Anthony Veteran Park.

The class comes just weeks after Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed a new sexual consent bill requiring an affirmative yes by both college-aged partners before any sexual activity.

The bill also offers amnesty to potential victims involved in illegal activity during an alleged assault.
