A man was killed and a woman was injured after their rowboat capsized Sunday morning in New Castle.
Police say the pair headed out onto the New Croton Reservoir between 3 and 5 a.m. They say at some point, the vessel overturned, although it is currently unclear why.
Responders pulled the 53-year-old Yonkers man from the water at around 9 a.m. near Pines Bridge. He never regained consciousness.
His 53-year-old female companion was rushed to Northern Westchester Hospital. There is no word on her condition.
Police say they are waiting for autopsy results to determine the man's cause of death.
David Lane, of Yorktown, says water sports are popular in the community. He says he hopes this incident serves as a reminder for people to take boating safety more seriously.
