Police investigate 2 fires on Sixth Avenue in Nyack

Police are investigating two suspicious fires just minutes apart on the same street in Nyack.

Homeowner Bob Knoebel noticed the first fire on his front porch Saturday morning on Sixth Avenue. He tried to put out the fire with an extinguisher and a garden hose, but the flames were too intense. While firefighters were containing the blaze, a neighbor told the fire chief that her porch was also on fire.

The second fire was put out by the homeowner, Bill Nagle.

The homeowners are now contacting their insurance companies so they can begin repairs.

No one was injured in either fire.
