An overturned car became trapped under a tractor-trailer in an accident on I-87 Friday evening, injuring three.
The accident happened just after 4:30 p.m. near Mile Square Road, heading south of the Cross County Mall in Yonkers.
The crash hospitalized all three passengers in the car. The two adults and one child were admitted in stable condition.
Witnesses say the car collided with a the tractor-trailer while merging into the center lane near Exit 3. The accident forced detours as police closed all southbound lanes until about 6 p.m.
