White Plains police announce holiday safety measures

Police in White Plains announced Wednesday plans for increased security in the city for the Fourth of July weekend amid a nationwide terrorism alert released by the Department of Homeland Security.

Officials sought to assure the public of a safe weekend, saying plenty of police manpower and equipment would be on hand.

"We're fully prepared for anything that comes our way," one official said.

The plans include increased police presence at the White Plains train station.
