Crews prepare to demolish home destroyed by fire

A Yonkers home destroyed by fire on Monday will have to be demolished.

Crews from the city are on the scene at 2 Landscape Place as they prepare the site to be razed.

Officials say they need to mark the area to avoid causing a water main break during demolition. "You have to disconnect the water, the sewer, and we have to make a road in, get permission from the property owner. It's going to be a little while," says George McGuire, of the State Contracting Corporation of New York.

McGuire says the actual demolition won't start until next week at the earliest, when they bring in the heavy equipment to knock the house down.
