Rent of regulated apartments in WC to rise

The Westchester Rent Guidelines Board has voted to raise the rent of the approximately 30,000 rent-regulated apartments in the county.

A one-year lease will see a 1.75 percent increase and a two-year lease will increase by 2.75 percent. Tenant advocates were hoping for no increase.

The rent increase is not as high as it could have been, but some tenants told News 12 that the increases will hurt.

The increases go into effect for leases expiring after Sept. 30.
