Driver smashes into Rivertown Car Wash

A 75-year-old woman driving a Honda lost control of her car Monday and slammed into a car wash in Ardsley.

Police are investigating what caused the woman to lose control and smash into the Rivertown Car Wash on Saw Mill River Road. They say the driver was taken to Westchester Medical Center.

A customer inside the car wash was able to pull the woman from the car after he saw it filling with fumes.

One witness says the driver hit a parked car then crashed into another car before hitting into the building. Other witnesses say they heard a loud grinding then tires screeching.

The car wash was forced to close while a structural engineer examines the damage to determine when it's safe to reopen.
