Legislators to vote on $25M Rye Playland revamp

The Westchester County Board of Legislators will be deciding whether a $25 million investment proposal is the best way to revamp Rye Playland.

The 15-year management plan, which was proposed by Standard Amusements, is meant to make Playland once again profitable.

If Standard Amusements is chosen to revamp the amusement park, residents say they have concerns it must address. Among those concerns raised at Rye City Hall Tuesday is what the city will be providing when it comes to police, fire and EMS services.

Legislator Catherine Parker, who represents Rye, is among the members picked to examine the investment that Standard Amusements is proposing for Playland. She initiated having the meeting in order to hear from those who live closest to it.

The City Hall meeting was one of the last chances for residents to voice their concerns regarding the proposal. The legislature is expected to vote on it on June 15.
