Vacant building to get commercial facelift
The once-beautiful Boyce Thompson Research Center on Executive Drive, which has sat vacant for more than 20 years, has become an eyesore full of graffiti and stray animals, neighbors say.
But the building's new, private owners are set for a multimillion-dollar makeover.
The Yonkers City Council approved a $4 million sale of the property to the Simone Development Companies in early March.
The new developer says it will renovate the building, increasing the size from 52,000 to 72,000 square feet while restoring its original character.
The project will bring medical offices, retail stores, banks and restaurants to Yonkers' northwest side.
