Photographer searches for models to pose nude
A famous photographer is looking for volunteers to pose nude in an upcoming photo shoot.
Spencer Tunick is looking for nude models to pose in and around the Garner Arts Center in Garnerville, where he serves as the artist in residence. He is best known for his group shots depicting groups of nude people in open space or industrial landscapes.
In 2007, Tunick helped protest global warming with his shoot of hundreds of people in the buff on a glacier in the Swiss Alps.
The latest shoot will require about 200 people at the old factory complex.
Tunick says he prefers old-school methods of photography, and still prints in black and white with a 6:7 negative.
According to Tunick, he shoots people in the nude outdoors because it makes a bold statement. "The naked body outdoors, on pavement, is still something quite shocking and alarming," he said.
The photo shoot is scheduled for this weekend.
