Victim identified in deadly West Nyack ambulette crash

Police have identified the person killed in the crash involving an ambulette and a bus.

Police say 48-year-old Vincent Careccio was killed when the ambulette he was riding in collided with a bus near the Palisades Mall on Thursday. Two passengers on the bus along with the drivers of the bus and ambulette were hospitalized with what police say are non-life threatening injuries.

Careccio, of Pomona, lived in an apartment run by the Mental Health Association. Gina Bellrive, who lives across the street, says Careccio was always by himself and was friendly.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
