Police: Victim likely knew suspect in Spring Valley stabbing

A man is in serious condition after being stabbed in the abdomen in Spring Valley.

Police say the incident happened outside the Hickory Food Mart and Deli on West Hickory Street at around 3 p.m. Wednesday.

News 12 learned from officials that the victim likely knew his attacker and appeared to be the target of the assailant.

Witnesses say a car pulled up across the street from the scene and a man armed with a knife jumped out. They say the suspect then chased the victim before stabbing him.

Police say the victim collapsed just beneath the sign of the deli, and say the attacker then jumped back into his car and took off before paramedics arrived.

The vehicle is described as black Honda Civic sedan.

The victim was taken to Nyack Hospital, where he is reportedly in serious condition.

Police say they have identified a suspect in the attack and are still searching for him at this time.
