The Westchester Mall turned 20 years old this year, and it's getting a makeover for the huge milestone.
Since there was no dirt to shovel inside the mall, a tile-breaking ceremony was held to usher in the multimillion-dollar renovation and modernization project Thursday.
Simon Properties is making changes for the first time since the upscale mall opened in White Plains back in 1995.
The mall will get new floors, lighting, restroom facilities and seating.
Construction will begin next month and is expected to be complete in the spring of 2016.
