Wake held for Warwick man killed by falling tree
A wake was held Monday for the 38-year-old man who was killed by a falling tree.
The service for Tonny Teskera was held at the TS Purta Funeral Home in the Village of Florida.
Teskera was part of a cleanup crew cutting down trees when he was killed by a 40-foot sumac.
Officials say he was hit on the head and killed instantly by the tree that his co-workers were cutting down at Hickory Hill Golf Course in Warwick.
County officials say the crew was cutting down trees and clearing debris to get ready for opening day when the accident happened.
Co-workers reportedly tried to perform CPR, but the Warwick native never regained consciousness.
Funeral services for Teskera will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph's Church in the Village of Florida.
He leaves behind a longtime, live-in girlfriend Kathleen Masi-Lanier, and their daughter, Nina.
