Youth Workforce Summit kicks off in White Plains

The Business Council of Westchester staged a groundbreaking summit Wednesday to empower hundreds of young people across the area.

More than 300 students took part in the Youth Workforce Summit in White Plains.

The event was co-organized by the Westchester County Executive's Office.

News 12's Tara Rosenblum spent the day as a youth coach at the event.

Rosenblum coached students from the Nelly Thornton School in Mount Vernon.

The students competed against about 40 other teams in events, which included creating the highest spaghetti tower and a shark tank challenge.

The team also created a mock newscast.

The winners of the challenges received gift cards to local restaurants.
