Woman killed by Amtrak train
A woman was hit and killed by an Amtrak train in Connecticut yesterday.
Police say the 30-year-old woman was on the northbound side of the Fairfield train station last night and jumped on the tracks to cross over to the southbound side. They think she decided to get down and cross the tracks instead of walking to a nearby bridge.
That's when an Amtrak train traveling from New York City to Boston came barreling through the station. Fairfield Police Chief Gary McNamara says the woman saw the train coming and quickly tried to save herself but ducking under the platform, but was still struck.
Service that had been disrupted last night is back on schedule this morning.
