Wallkill police seek suspect in carjacking
Police are looking for a woman who carjacked a vehicle and threatened a female driver with a gun in a Wal-Mart parking lot.
Wallkill police say it happened at around 7:20 p.m. Friday.
Police say a white woman in her late 30s to early 40s walked over to a 2009 gray Hyundai posing as an assault victim. As the driver, a White Lake native, handed the suspect a cellphone so she could call for help, police say the female carjacker pulled a gun.
Police say the victim jumped from her car and ran toward the Wal-Mart. Other shoppers called 911.
They say as the suspect left the parking lot, she hit a tow truck and drove off east on Route 211.
The New York license plate's number is FRP-5573.
Police are describing the suspect as between 5 feet 4 inches and 5 feet 6 inches tall with light-colored eyes and heavyset. She was last seen wearing a red curly wig.
Anyone with information can call Wallkill police at 845-692-6757.
