New TZB construction to heat up
The rough winter has made it difficult for construction work on the new Tappan Zee Bridge to continue, but there are finally signs that things could be warming up.
Tappan Zee Constructors, the group that's building the new $3.9 billion bridge, included a two-month winter shutdown as part of its schedule to account for weather conditions. Landside crews have continued to work whenever the weather cooperated, and it looks like that will be the case this week.
Crews are scheduled to be working on the landings on both sides of the river. As a result, two lanes of the southbound New York State Thruway in Tarrytown will be closed between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. starting tonight and running through Saturday morning.
The exit 10 on-ramp to the southbound Thruway in South Nyack will also be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday.
