Lightning strikes Mohegan Lake home

A house in the Mohegan Lake section of Yorktown was hit by lightning during yesterday's thunderstorm.

Homeowner Brigett Lummel says when rain started falling this afternoon, she was more concerned about flooding, but instead she ended up calling the fire department in the middle of a rainstorm.

Lummel and her dog, Baxter, were in the kitchen when lightning struck a metal dog run she had installed in the backyard of her home on Eleanor Drive this weekend. She says she smelled smoke and the alarms went off.

No one was hurt in the incident and the damage was minimal.
