Tenants outraged over extended natural gas shut down

Hundreds of tenants in a Mount Vernon apartment building on North 3rd Avenue are furious that they are still without natural gas after 11 days.

It was turned off by crews trying to fix a gas leak inside the building. In order to do this, each individual apartment must be checked. Building officials say two tenants are unreachable and their homes are locked and inaccessible to crews.

Although the building management company provided hot plates to the residents a week ago, there is still frustration over the lack of hot water and gas for cooking.
