Yorktown felon at center of manhunt surrenders

A felon at the center of a Yorktown manhunt peacefully surrendered to county police yesterday afternoon.

Stephen Manfredi's Baldwin Road home in Yorktown was surrounded by SWAT teams and police negotiators earlier in the week, who believed he had barricaded himself inside.

Manfredi wasn't home at the time, but the nearby French Hill School was put into emergency lockdown mode.

Manfredi was wanted for allegedly violating parole on a felony drunken driving charge. His attorney says the probation violation warrant may have been issued after Manfredi was arrested last October for drug possession.

Manfredi's bail was set at $15,000 in cash or bond. He was remanded to the county jail in Valhalla. Manfredi is due back in court July 13.
