White Plains Council Pres. announces assembly bid

White Plains Council President Thomas Roach announced he will be seeking to fill an Assembly seat left vacant by Mayor Adam Bradley.

Roach formally announced his campaign from the steps of city hall yesterday afternoon.

Roach, a Democrat, says his highest hopes are to help break the stalemate in Albany.

"My goal initially is to change the way things operate," Roach says. "To make sure the voice of the people is actually heard, and that they do the people's business."

Roach will have to face-off against fellow Democrat and Head of the Greater New York Chamber of Commerce, Mark Jaffe, of West Harrison in a September primary.
