Source: Top county social service officials to resign
A source tells News 12 that some top officials in the Westchester Department of Social Services may be joining the recent wave of county resignations, all of them apparently in response to cost-cutting measures.
Nearly a dozen veteran prosecutors in the district attorney's office have already said they're resigning. Now, it appears they will be joined by the director of the Department of Social Services and possibly other top leaders in the department.
County officials have said they're planning to save taxpayer money by cutting back on employee sick time and making some employees pay a portion of their health care costs, among other things.
Westchester County Deputy Communications Director Donna Greene says that more than 200 county employees have filed for resignations this year. "Until those separations become final, it would be premature to comment on any specific positions or departments," Greene says.
