Parents, schools try to prevent underage drinking

With prom season just around the corner, parents and school officials in New Rochelle are teaming up in the hopes of curbing the underage drinking that usually comes with end-of-the-year parties.

New Rochelle High School Principal Don Conette says that while students are informed of the dangers of underage drinking throughout the year in school, he is joining a campaign with local leaders to urge parents to talk to their kids.

Signs are also being posted at the Metro-North station, New Roc City and selected bus shelters to reinforce the message throughout the community.
