Convicted Yonkers killer gets life sentence
A convicted Yonkers killer maintained his innocence through tears as he was sentenced to life in prison without parole yesterday afternoon.
Walter Maddox was found guilty of raping and killing Roberta Galicia Lagos in a Yonkers Laundromat as she was opening for business back in 2008.
Maddox was also found guilty of raping a former girlfriend inside his Yonkers apartment, and raping and beating another woman in O'Boyle Park in Yonkers.
Maddox, who did not speak throughout his entire trial, offered a tear-filled statement at his sentencing. "A lot of these crimes I did not commit," Maddox says. "I'm not a horrible person. I work for a living. I take care of my kids. I am not an animal. I am not a monster."
