Diver pulled from water during Entergy maintenance dies

A diver who was performing maintenance on an Indian Point discharge canal was pulled from the Hudson River this morning and later died.

Entergy officials tell News 12 that the diver, who was contracted by Entergy, was one of two divers in the water around 10:30 a.m. when communication between the diver and those above ground was lost.

Officials say the diver was pulled from the water while still tethered to his oxygen supply, and that there does not appear to be any equipment malfunctions.

The diver was taken to the Hudson Valley Hospital Center, where he went into cardiac arrest and was pronounced dead.
