County board hopefuls hold radio debate

The two candidates in the race for the county board seat in the 10th District faced off yesterday during a radio debate in New Rochelle.

Democrat Greg Varian is an attorney and a trustee of the New Rochelle Library. His opponent, Republican Sheila Marcotte, has been on the Eastchester Town Board for seven years.

The debate covered a variety of issues, including the affordable housing plan to build apartments for minorities in mostly white communities. Both Varian and Marcotte agreed they would work with County Executive Rob Astorino to implement the plan.

Whoever wins the special election June 22 will fill out the remaining 18 months in the term of Democratic Legislator Vito Pinto.
